Early Dismissal & Other School Closings
SCHOOL CLOSING PROCEDURES
Odyssey Charter School has established specific procedures for any and all school closing emergencies. It is important that you are familiar with these school closing procedures, and that you review them with your children before a weather emergency occurs. This way, you and your family, as well as our school staff, have the opportunity to prepare and provide the safest course of action during a school closing.
School Closings
Odyssey Charter School will implement any closings during inclement weather or other school emergency based upon level of severity and local district policies. Please tune in to local radio and television stations or check the state’s school closing website.
Delayed Openings
In the event of a delayed opening, the school will not be able to accept children in the building until the rescheduled time appointed for the delay. School buses will run according to the new school opening time, so families using the bus will need to adjust their schedule appropriately. Please be sure to check for any updates, in the event the weather becomes worse and a delay moves to a complete closing.
Emergency Early Dismissals
When there is an emergency early dismissal, the school will follow the instructions you selected on the Early Dismissal Form (the orange form, filled out earlier in the school year). Parents who opted to have their child sent home on the normal bus routes will be contacted first, and then the parents who opted to pick up their children directly from school will be contacted.
COMMUNICATION OF CLOSINGS
The Odyssey Charter School will communicate any weather related school closings, late openings, and early dismissals through various media outlets. The television, radio, and internet will all be utilized to announce and update any and all closings. Below is a specific list of resources used to announce school closings.
