Attendance

We are extremely proud of our students' attendance record at Odyssey Charter School.

We know that children with good attendance records also demonstrate high rates of success in school. Attendance is critical at all grade levels.

If illness or family emergencies occur and your child stays home, please make sure that you send a written excuse to school upon your child's return. In the note please include your child's name, the reason and date of the absence and your signature.

Excused absences include:

Illness of child - a physician's note may be required

Scheduled appointments to a physical or mental healthcare provider, including, but not limited to, a physician, dentist, orthodontist, or psychologist.

Contagious disease within the home of the pupil

Death in the family or of a close friend

Legal business

Observance of a religious holiday

Doctor's appointment

Absence, pre-approved by the school director, to participate in other educational experiences

Emergency situations as determined by the school director

Suspension from school

Please note that children need to attend school for half the instructional day in order to be counted as present for the day ( e.g., A child with an early dismissal before noon would be marked absent for the day).

When a student is absent, parents/guardians must inform the school by 10:00 a.m. Upon a student's return to school and no later than the third day, a parental written note of explanation must be presented in order for the absence to be excused. All written notes must have a parent signature. If a student has been to see a doctor, the student should return with a note from the doctor's office. Written notes may be faxed, handwritten, or e-mailed with a scanned signature.
